Dr. Adam Striker interviews Dr. Allison Fernandez, host and creator of Women of Impact in Anesthesiology, a series of video interviews featuring prominent women in the specialty. Allison Fernandez, MD, MBA created the series Women of Impact in Anesthesiology, a documentary highlighting women leaders in the field of anesthesiology. Dr Fernandez was awarded the 2020 ASA Mentoring Grant Program from the ASA Committee on Professional Diversity for this project. She is a pediatric anesthesiologist currently practicing at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Her areas of interest are pediatric anesthesia, pediatric pain management, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI). She earned her medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook Renaissance School of Medicine in New York and completed her anesthesia residency at Georgetown University. Dr. Fernandez completed a pediatric anesthesia fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Adam Striker, MD, FASA, is currently Chair of the ASA Committee on Communications, and is the series editor for ASA’s Central Line podcast series. He is an Associate Professor and serves as staff anesthesiologist in the Division of Cardiac Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and in the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia at Kentucky Children’s Hospital as part of the Joint Congenital Heart Care Program. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University and his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed his pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University.
