Act Now to Avoid the 2015 PQRS Payment Adjustment

Friday, December 20, 2013

Be Sure to Report By December 31, 2013

Members who are considered eligible professionals under the Physicians Quality Reporting System (PQRS) may be subject to payment adjustments (penalties) beginning in 2015.

EPs and group practices who do not satisfactorily report data on quality measures during the 2013 reporting period will be subject to a 1.5% payment adjustment of their Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) charges beginning in 2015.

EPs and group practices not planning to meet the requirements to earn an incentive in 2013, and did not elect the administrative claims-based reporting option, can still avoid the adjustment by reporting the following:

Individual EPs

  • Submit one valid measure via claims, participating registry, or through a qualified Electronic Health Record (EHR) OR
  • Submit one valid measures group via claims or participating registry

Group Practices

Eligible members must meet these criteria during the 2013 PQRS program year (January 1 - December 31, 2013). Remember to take action by December 31, 2013 to avoid the 2015 payment adjustment.
