The Andrews Institute Ambulatory Surgery Center is a beautifully constructed 26,000 square foot medical pavilion which includes eight digital operating rooms with multi-specialty surgical capabilities. Sixty-five percent of the surgical procedures performed at AI are orthopedic, and the vast majority of orthopedic patients receive a regional anesthetic as part of their comprehensive perioperative care. In 2010, anesthesiologists at Al performed over 2000 ultrasound-guided regional anesthetics, including over 1100 continuous ambulatory perineural catheter placements. Common blocks performed at Andrews include interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular. axillary. popliteal, femoral. saphenous, and TAP. Since our USRA preceptorship courses are held on the busiest block days, the result is an incredible opportunity for preceptors to witness a vast number of blocks, while interacting with the experts as they perform these procedures.
