MOCA Simulation - University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health Clinical Simulation Program

Simulation in Anesthesia for the Practicing Anesthesiologist

Saturday, September 27, 2014 to Saturday, September 27, 2014

Location:
Madison, Wisconsin
United States of America
At:
UW Health Clinical Simulation Center

Simulation in Anesthesia for the Practicing Anesthesiologist is a one-day, immersive, experiential learning course that fulfills the Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology® (MOCA®) Part IV (Practice Performance Assessment and Improvement) simulation education requirement. Course participants will experience and observe difficult patient-care challenges that occur frequently or infrequently in clinical practice, present substantial risk to patients, and require teamwork, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Each participant will play the role of the responsible anesthesia provider for at least one scenario and observe or serve as a secondary responder for other scenarios. All scenarios are followed by an instructor-guided, group debriefing. During the course, participants refresh their skills in managing critical events, leading and participating in team interactions, and organizing and utilizing various available resources, conducted in a safe, relaxed, and supportive learning environment.
