ASA advocacy contributes to Anesthesia Conversion Factor increase of nearly 2%
As a result of ASA's advocacy during prior years' processes to recalculate Medicare's practice expense values, the unadjusted Medicare Anesthesia Conversion Factor for 2013 increased 1.87 percent to $21.9243. This is the final year of a four-year phase-in that included increases to the practice expense portion of the Anesthesia Conversion Factor in each of the last four years. Hartford's Monumental Horace Wells
Just 198 years ago this month, Horace Wells was born in Hartford, Vermont. He gained his professional reputation in another town - Hartford, Connecticut. There, in 1844, he volunteered to undergo dental extraction under the first nitrous oxide anesthetic. In 1875, Truman Howe Bartlett finished sculpting the Horace Wells Monument for Bushnell Park, the United States' oldest publicly funded park. -
