Collaboration
A primary focus of the Global Humanitarian Outreach Committee is promoting the collaboration of humanitarian organizations and academic partnerships. While substantial networking already occurs between members of the ASA and like-minded societies on humanitarian issues, there are still many more opportunities for collaboration that are of interest to the GHO. We are working toward these future collaborative efforts:
- A database of organizations, geographic areas of interest and program focus for sharing information and helping to curb duplication
- An anonymous database for sharing outcomes related to the humanitarian delivery of anesthesia and anesthesia outcomes in low-income countries
- A database of international volunteers with specific interests and areas of expertise which could be access for humanitarian emergencies and disaster relief
Academic Partnerships
The goal of GHO’s academic partnerships is to form long-term teaching arrangements with residents at these medical schools and providing them with opportunities to volunteer in low-income countries. GHO expects this list of partnering schools to grow as the initiative expands.

Other Partnerships
GHO is collaborating with these like-minded organizations to pool resources for addressing the global anesthesia crisis. GHO and our partners are committed to sharing information and developing ways we can work together to bring the greatest number of anesthesia resources to those who need it. We expect to add more partners as the GHO initiative grows.
