Mission Description
The Rwanda Teaching Program began in January 2006 as a partnership between the National University of Rwanda, CASIEF, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists Overseas Teaching Program (ASAOTP). The goal is to build capacity for anesthesia training in Rwanda so that, over time, there will be enough local staff anesthesiologists to run the program with minimal international support. Volunteer period is for one month.

Mission Description
The Global Health Service Partnership’s (GHSP) goal is to contribute to increasing clinical care capacity and to growing stronger health sectors by deploying medical and nursing educators. The Partnership is committed to provider training and capacity building, planting the seeds for a sustainable impact on global health care delivery. Applications to deploy in July 2014 are due November 1, 2013. Location will either be Malawi, Tanzania, or Uganda and is dependant on matching need with specialty. ELIGIBILITY: Physicians must be Board eligible or board certified and nurses must have a BSN with an MPH, or an MSN, APRN, DNP, PhD and/or a CNS and a minimum of 3 years experience in a clinical specialty. Both physicians and nurses have to have an active license in the United States (and will have to meet in-country licensing requirements as well). SPOUSE TRAVEL: Spouses may either apply to be GHSP Volunteers as well or Peace Corps Response Volunteers. At the moment, GHSP does not offer options for families to participate, although this may change in the future.

The protestant mission, The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), in Mali has been actively involved in medical work since its entry into Mali in 1923. The mission has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the medical work and offers its services to all without regard to creed or religion. Currently there are six rural medical clinics. These clinics are now under the direction of C.P.A.M. and offer various services: general medical treatment, prenatal care, vaccinations, well-baby clinics, family planning, maternity care, as well as AIDS prevention teaching. Malian nurses, midwives and assistants have been trained to staff and manage these rural clinics.
