Senate Appropriations Committee approves ASA-supported VHA Nursing Handbook language
Last week, the Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously approved the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, which included ASA®-supported language addressing the proposed Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Nursing Handbook. This language approval is the result of ASA’s advocacy efforts in Congress, including many productive meetings on Capitol Hill.

New Payment and Practice Management Memo: Modifier 59 – Distinct Procedural Service
This is one of the most potent modifiers within the CPT® code set. CMS recently released an article describing correct and incorrect use of modifier 59. When CMS and the contractors who process claims see instances of improper coding, they often issue what they term “provider education” on the issue(s). The CMS article may or may not be a result of such an observation, but it is information you should know and use when submitting your claims.
