To promote the connection between education and superior patient care, the ASA-SEA Distinguished Educator in Anesthesiology award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement and sharing of anesthesiology knowledge. Apply for this joint American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) award.
Recipients will receive a certificate, recognition at the ANESTHESIOLOGY annual meeting, and an announcement on the ASA website.
To be considered for the ASA-SEA Distinguished Educator in Anesthesiology award, you should be:
The Distinguished Educator Award celebrates anesthesiologist educators who are dedicated to teaching and advancing anesthesiology or other healthcare education. They will have pursued unique opportunities in education-related leadership in their departments, institutions, professional societies, or specialty. In addition, they often will have published high quality education-related peer-reviewed articles that provide new insights into anesthesiology or other healthcare education. Many awardees will have made education-related presentations at national specialty or education meetings and attained national visibility for their education efforts.
Earning this award may help those in academia gain academic promotion. It also provides a distinction of merit, even to those at advanced academic ranks. Therefore, it is appropriate for senior anesthesiologists to apply for the award even if they are quite advanced in their careers and anesthesia education contributions.
Before you proceed to the application, use the Application Checklist to self-score. Applicants are not expected to meet every criterion and are encouraged to apply based on activities completed in the past, or are ongoing, and are predominately focused on education.
Nominations are accepted year-round, with award recipients announced semi-annually. There is no cost to apply.
