ASA's push for Anthem to reverse its deeply flawed policy generates media blitz

ASA’s opposition to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield’s policy to deny payment for anesthesia care if the surgery or procedure goes beyond an arbitrary time limit, and ASA’s statement on Anthem’s December 5 decision to reverse said policy, has been highlighted in more than 1,000 news articles, including Newsweek, The New York Times, Associated Press, ABC News, NBC News, USA Today, and Medscape, among others. “No other commercial health insurer, no government payer, Medicare or Medicaid, has ever done anything like this and come up with an arbitrary time limit for anesthesia services,” ASA President Dr. Donald E.
