USA Today quotes ASA committee members on anesthesia for tattoos

In the article, Steven Gayer, MD, FASA, former chair of ASA’s Committee on Ambulatory Surgical Care, and Tiffany Moon, MD, FASA, member of ASA’s Committee on Trauma and Emergency Preparedness, discussed the new trend of people looking to get tattoos while under anesthesia. Dr. Gayer said before and after care for a tattoo under anesthesia should be the same as it is for surgery.  "After surgery, you need professional people to monitor your recovery from anesthesia," he said. "And then be escorted home by someone who is a responsible party. You're not going to let this person take a taxi or an Uber or Lyft home."
