Democrat Chairman Stark Releases Report on Republican Plans for Health Care

House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Chairman Pete Stark (D-GA) released a report today titled “Dangerous to America’s Health: The Republican Plan to Dismantle America’s Health Care.”  The Stark report provides insight into the arguments Democrats will make in opposition to Republican attempts to repeal some or all of the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” (PPACA), the new health reform law, in the next Congress. Throughout the report, Chairman Stark focuses on the parts of PPACA that are the most popular with the general public such as eliminating the ability to deny coverage based on a preexisting condition and decreasing the number of uninsured Americans.

With Republicans taking control of the House of Representatives in January, the repeal of PPACA will be at forefront of the legislative agenda in the House. With Democratic control of the Senate and a Democrat in the White House, the odds of repeal of PPACA in the next two years remain highly unlikely.
