The ASA Committee on Practice Management (CoPM) is conducting a three-month pilot to solicit information on company model and similar types of arrangements. The company model, in which anesthesiologists are coerced into accepting a contract or employment arrangement that may involve fee-splitting or kickbacks, compromises anesthesiologists' autonomy and may represent a violation of federal and state laws. The goals of the pilot are to learn about proposed or existing company model arrangements and gather fact sets that ASA may use in its work against these arrangements.
If you would like to submit information on a proposed or existing company model arrangement, please contact Morasa Shaker (202-289-2222) at the ASA Washington, D.C. office for more details. The pilot will run from November 1, 2013-January 31, 2014.
