On Thursday, June 22, Senate Republican leaders released the text of their legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. The proposed legislation, the Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017, is a substitute for the House-passed American Health Care Act (AHCA). The Senate is expected to vote on it next week, before the bill would move to the House of Representatives for consideration.
ASA staff and members of the Ad Hoc Committee on Health Care Reform continue to review the 142-page document. A more comprehensive analysis about the impact on the practice of anesthesiology and patients will be provided soon.
