Arna Banerjee, MD, MMHC, FCCM,is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, and Medical Education & Administration. She is currently the Senior Director of the Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment (Simulation Center) and the Executive Medical Director of Critical Care Adult Enterprise at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Banerjee is a nationally recognized educator and education researcher with specific expertise in high-fidelity simulation-based training and clinical performance assessment. She has received research funding from the Foundation for Anesthesiology Education and Research (FAER) and published numerous papers and book chapters. After completing her medical education in India, Banerjee completed her residency in Anesthesiology in 2002 and a fellowship in critical care medicine in 2003 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also earned herMaster of Management in Health Care degreefrom Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. She is active in many organizations and has served in leadership roles in the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Undergraduate Medical Education Committee and ICU Liberation Committee. Currently, she is serving on the Interactive Computer Editorial Board and the Perioperative Life Support and Resuscitation Editorial Board for the American Society of Anesthesiology and is a member of the Education Writing Group for the American Heart Association.
Talia K. Ben-Jacob, MD, MSc is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, New Jersey. She graduated from the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. She trained in Anesthesiology at Cooper University Hospital and completed a Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Washington University Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She splits her clinical time between the Department of Anesthesiology and a multidisciplinary ICU. She is also the Interim Division Head of Critical Care in the Department of Anesthesiology. Talia is an active member in the ASA and currently serves on the ASA Committee on Critical Care and Committee on Young Physicians. She was the recipient of the 2017 Cooper University Hospital Department of Anesthesiology Resident Champion Award.
Andrea Cortegiani, MD, Prof. is a consultant in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the University Hospital 'Policlinico Paolo Giaccone' in Palermo, Italy. He is associate Professor in Anesthesiology at the University of Palermo. His main research interests are infection and sepsis in critically ill patients, noninvasive respiratory support, cardiac arrest. He is a Research Methodology enthusiast. He is the current chair of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Anesthesia Analgesia and intensive Care (SIAARTI). Camila Machado De Souza, MD, PhD (CAS Liasison) did her undergraduate and residency training at the Federal University of São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil. She completed a PhD in Knowledge Translation at the same university in 2019 and now practices in Canada, where she’s an Assistant Professor and the current Fellowship Director for Cardiac Anesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine of the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. She’s also a member at large of the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia Section Executive of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society.
Sharon Einav, MD is an Associate Professor in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and also holds a Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the Braun School of Public Health. Her clinical experience includes work in the Israel National EMS critical care ambulances and co-directorship of the Hadassah airborne critical care transport services. She is currently the director of surgical critical care at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Her fields of research include the study of critical incidents and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, quality of care (in particular mechanical ventilation and maternal critical illness), and the management of trauma patients during multiple casualty events. She has authored several systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and guidelines on non-invasive ventilation.
Marina Gitman, MD is a staff anesthesiologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Her clinical interests include anesthesia for liver transplantation and prevention and treatment of local anesthetic toxicity. In her spare time, she loves to host dinner parties and feed people.
Mariachiara Ippolito, MDis an early-career anesthesiologist and intensivist working in the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University of Palermo, Italy. Her research fields include cardiopulmonary resuscitation and mechanical ventilation.
Inès Lakbar, MD, MSc is an intensivist and anesthesiologist based in Montpellier, France, is a dedicated clinician and researcher in Prof. Jaber's ICU. Her primary areas of focus encompass sepsis and severe infections, augmented by a strong interest in research methodology, particularly systematic reviews and the development of guidelines.
Lais Helena Navarro Lima, MD, PhD (CAS Liaison) is an accomplished Associate Professor in Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. She has an extensive clinical background as an Anesthesiologist at the Botucatu Medical School in Sao Paulo, Brazil, spanning over 15 years. Additionally, she has pursued a research fellowship at the Resuscitation Research Lab at the University of Texas Medical Branch in the United States and a clinical fellowship at Queens University in Canada, where she specialized in Simulation and Medical Education. Dr. Navarro e Lima's research interests include the study of perioperative fluid resuscitation and quality of care, with a focus on perioperative outcomes. In her personal life, she enjoys traveling, exploring art, and indulging in good food.
Gerald A. Maccioli, MD, MBA, FCCM, FASA practiced Critical Care Medicine and Anesthesiology in Raleigh, NC for 27 years. During that time, he served variously as American Society of Anesthesiologists Director for North Carolina, President of the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, and Chair of the ASA Section on Education and Research. He has also held various leadership roles in other organizations such as Chair of the American Medical Association Committee of Innovators. He currently serves as Chief Medical Officer of Moterum Technologies, Quick’rCare and Care Angel as well as Vice President of Medical Affairs for the Accreditation Commission for Health Care.
Matt McEvoy, MDis a Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr. McEvoy has devoted his career to educational innovation, implementation, and research, as well as clinical implementation science. A unique aspect of his work is not only to test pedagogical approaches for learning, but to evaluate the translational impact of this learning into the clinical arena such that there are improvements in care delivery and ultimately patient outcomes. Matt is most proud of Amy, his wife of 25 years, his 5 children, and 2 sons-in-law.
Vivek Moitra, MDis currently the Allen I. Hyman Professor of Critical Care Anesthesiology at the Columbia University Medical Center in the Division of Critical Care, Chief of the Division of Critical Care in the Department of Anesthesiology, and the Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic and Surgical Intensive Care Units. Dr. Moitra is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Anesthesiology and is subspecialty certified in Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical Care. Dr. Moitra is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. He is the Program Director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program. Dr. Moitra is recognized nationally for his scholarly activity and serves as a key leader for his specialty nationally in a number of areas: as an Oral Board Examiner and Question Writer, as the American Society of Anesthesiologists' liaison to the American Heart Association, and as a co-author of the internationally recognized 2015 guidelines for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Dorothee A. Mueller, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Dr. Mueller attended medical school at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universitaet in Heidelberg, Germany, and completed her residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology with subspecialty board certifications in Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical Care. She spends her clinical time in the operating room, the neuro and cardiovascular intensive care units, and on the perioperative service. Her interests include resident and fellow education using high-fidelity simulation as well as improving perioperative outcomes.
Mark Nunnally, MD, FCCM is a Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care and Pain Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, and Medicine for NYU Langone Health in New York. He is interested in operations and safety across the fields of anesthesiology and critical care, and particularly enjoys opportunities for multispecialty collaboration. He is a GRADE methodologist, participating in many ACCM-sponsored guidelines, and sits on the ACCM Board of Regents. In his personal life, he enjoys cooking, travel, and good music.
Michael O'Connor, MD, FCCM, FASA is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care at the University of Chicago. Clinically, he works in both the operating rooms, where he tries to avoid having to use content from AACLS, and in the ICUs.
Aryeh Shander, MD, FCCM, FCCP, FASA is Emeritus Chair, Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Pain Management and Hyperbaric Medicine at Englewood Hospital & Medical Center in Englewood, NJ. He is also Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Anesthesiology, Medicine and Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as well as Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in NJ and Courtesy Clinical Professor UF College of Medicine. He served as the Executive Medical Director of The Institute for Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Englewood Hospital, and Past -President of the Society for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management. He serves as the director for education for TeamHealth. Dr. Shander lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to anesthesiology, critical care medicine and patient blood management and has more than 200 peer reviewed publications that have appeared in several prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals. Additionally, he has authored several chapters and books.
Roshni Sreedharan, MD, FASA is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University. She is a faculty member in the Departments of Intensive Care and Resuscitation and General Anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic. She completed her Anesthesiology residency and Fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic and has been on staff since 2015. She is the Director of the Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine fellowship program and the Vice-Chair for Education in the Department of Intensive Care and Resuscitation.
David Stahl, MDgraduated from Harvard College with an A.B. in psychology before attending medical school at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his internship in internal medicine followed by a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in critical care medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He is currently an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Stahl is a practicing intensivist and anesthesiologist with clinical interests in critical care, obstetric anesthesiology, and obstetric critical care. He serves as the Program Director of the Anesthesiology Residency Program at Ohio State, as well as the Medical Director of Critical Care Services for the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. He is involved nationally on several committees related to critical care, obstetric anesthesiology, and medical education at the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), and the Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA). His research interests focus on medical education, burnout/wellness, and the overlap between obstetrics and critical care.
Guy Weinberg, MD is a professor of anesthesiology at the University of Illinois and recently retired from the Jesse Brown VA where his lab was active for more than 20 years. He originally found his way to anesthesiology after residency in internal medicine and fellowship in medical genetics at the University of California, San Francisco and a stint at the NIH in molecular biology. A single case he will describe led to an interest in studying the adverse effects of local anesthetics on mitochondrial metabolism and eventually the discovery of a treatment for LAST - a problem that was recognized as resisting standard resuscitation methods.
