American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) diplomates can earn up to 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ by answering 30 MOCA Minute questions each quarter—FREE for ASA members. Non-ASA members pay a flat fee of $160.
ABA’s MOCA Minute is designed to help Diplomates keep their medical knowledge base sound and up to date with changing industry advancements. Participating Diplomates answer personalized multiple-choice questions, based on their specialty certificates and practice profile, from their ABA Go physician’s portal or mobile app. Visit the ABA MOCA Minute webpage to learn more.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and American Board of Anesthesiology.
The American Society of Anesthesiologists is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Q: Do I still get credit if I answer a question wrong?
A: Yes. Right or wrong, you’re still learning by completing each question. So even if you miss a question, you still earn CME credit if answered during the quarter it was released.
Q: Do I need to complete the ASA course evaluation before CME is reported to ABA?
A: Yes, an evaluation on the ASA Education Center will be required before getting a certificate, which will then be reported to the ABA.
Q: What do I do if my CME credits don’t show up in my ABA account and I am an ASA member?
A: If you are an ASA member and you opted in, contact ASA at [email protected].

A:
1) Check with ABA to make sure you opted in to earn credit.
2) You must purchase the CME for MOCA Minute by April 1, 2024, to be eligible to claim credit.
3) A link to access the course will be sent to you once you purchase the activity. If you have purchased the activity and have trouble accessing it contact ASA at [email protected].
Q: Is the Quality Improvement Component included?
A: No, credits will be applied towards the Continuing Medical Education (CME) Component.
Q: Is the cost of MOCA Minute from ABA changing?
A: No.
Q: Do I opt in only once, or do I need to opt in every year?
A: You need to opt in annually.

Q: Do I need to sign up, or will I be automatically registered?
A: Yes, you must sign up.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: If you are an ABA diplomate and an ASA member, just opt-in during the normal MOCA Minute registration process when prompted on the ABA website.
Q: Does my participation get reported automatically or do I need to self-report?
A: If you opt-in, your CME will be uploaded in your ASA Education Center Transcript and reported to ABA for you automatically.
Q: How do I know if my claimed credits have been recognized?
A: After you complete the MOCA Minute program and ABA processes the data, ASA will send you an email with a link in January to the ASA Education Center where you can complete a course evaluation and claim credit.
Q: Did ASA just offer me $160 worth of free CME?
A: Yes!
Non-ASA Members
Q: What does the MOCA Minute CME program cost?
A: Non-ASA members pay $160 per year regardless of the credit total. Please note that ABA charges for MOCA participation still apply.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: If you are an ABA diplomate, you will need to opt-in during the normal MOCA Minute registration process when prompted on the ABA website. All diplomates who opted in for credit will receive an email in January after the MOCA Minute Program ends for the year, you will be able to purchase the program for credit on Shop ASA. The activity is available for sale through April 1, 2024.
Q: As a non-member, how do I claim this deal and where can I pay $160?
A: You will be able to purchase the product on Shop ASA from mid-January through April 1, 2024. Please note you only receive credit for those questions answered during the quarter they were released. You can contact the ABA at [email protected] to confirm the number of credits you earned during the year.
Q: Can I order this and pay now?
A: No, you cannot pay until January 2024. However, you must opt in for CME at the time you enroll in MOCA Minute to be eligible to claim it. In January 2024, ABA will send ASA a list of diplomates that signed up for CME at the time of enrollment, opted into data sharing between ABA and ASA, and participated in the 2023 MOCA Minute program. ASA will send payment and credit claiming instructions at that time.

A: You will receive an email.
