Manuel Bonilla is the Chief Advocacy and Practice Officer (CAPO) in the Washington, DC office of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). In this, Manuel oversees the organization’s advocacy division which includes departments covering federal and state legislative, regulatory and political affairs content areas. He serves as ASA’s senior in-house lobbyist to the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate and his staff provide support for the operations of ASAPAC, that nation’s largest physician political action fund at over $4 million per election. Manuel also works with ASA’s Chief Quality Officer and Chief Health Policy Officer on issues related to economics and practice innovation, quality and quality reporting and analytics and research services.
Manuel has over two decades of experience in health care legislation and politics. He began his career in Washington, D.C. as a U.S. Senate health care legislative aide. Following Manuel’s time on Capitol Hill, he worked as a Congressional lobbyist for the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Manuel is a graduate of Washington & Lee University and has a M.S. in Health Care Management from Marymount University.
