Kumar Belani, MBBS, MS, FACA, FAAP, is a distinguished international professor at the Academic Health Center, University of Minnesota, and serves as professor in the department of anesthesiology and as an adjunct professor in medicine and pediatrics in the Schools of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Belani received the 2018 University of Minnesota President’s Award for Outstanding Service, which recognizes his exceptional service and commitment to the university and community, and was inducted into the academy of excellence in the clinical sciences in 2018.
Throughout his career, Dr. Belani has served in various leaderships roles, including as president of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, president of the Minnesota Society of Anesthesiology, research director of Anesthesiology, executive advisory committee member for the International Medical Education and Research Program, secretary for the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia, visiting professor at St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, professor of global health, Narayana Hrudayalaya Institute of Medical Sciences, and medical school admissions committee and scholastic standing committee, University of Minnesota.
Ronald G. Pearl, MD, PhD, FASA, is the Dr. Richard K. and Erika N. Richards professor in the department of anesthesiology, perioperative and pain medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California. He practices cardiovascular anesthesiology and critical care medicine. Dr. Pearl was chair of the Stanford department from 1999-2021 and has served as president of the Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (SAAAPM), the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA), the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA), and the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA). Dr. Pearl chairs the ASA committee on innovation and serves on the committee on academic anesthesiology, the committee on critical care medicine, the educational track subcommittee on critical care, and the educational track subcommittee on perioperative medicine. His research interests include pulmonary hypertension, respiratory failure, septic shock, blood transfusion, and hemodynamic monitoring, and he has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles.
Adam Striker, MD, FASA, is the past chair of the ASA’s Committee on Communications and is the series editor for ASA’s Central Line podcast series. He is Professor of Anesthesiology at Medical College of Wisconsin, a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at Children’s Wisconsin and serves as Director of Clinical Operations for pediatric anesthesiology at Children's Wisconsin. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University and his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed his pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University.
