Dr. Jane Moon, contributor to the January ASA Monitor, joins the podcast to discuss women in anesthesia leadership with Dr. Striker. Jane S. Moon, MD, is a critical care anesthesiologist, director of communications, and assistant clinical professor in the department of anesthesiology & perioperative medicine at UCLA. She worked as a high school history teacher before starting medical school. Dr. Moon is a trustee of the Wood Library-Museum of Anesthesiology and co-chair of its archives committee. She is also chair of the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA) committee on the history of anesthesia and co-vice chair of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) abstract review subcommittee on history and education. She is an associate editor of Anesthesiology, writing historical “Reflections from the Wood Library-Museum” for the journal and serving as co-editor of its Classic Papers Revisited section. Dr. Moon is also assistant editor of History and Book Reviews for Anesthesia & Analgesia (A&A) and served as a guest editor of A&A's Centennial Supplement.
Adam Striker, MD, FASA, is currently Chair of the ASA Committee on Communications, and is the series editor for ASA’s Central Line podcast series. He is an Associate Professor and serves as staff anesthesiologist in the Division of Cardiac Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and in the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia at Kentucky Children’s Hospital as part of the Joint Congenital Heart Care Program. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University and his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed his pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University.
