Elizabeth Malinzak, MD, FASA, is a pediatric anesthesiologist and associate professor at Duke University School of Medicine, where she serves as associate dean for student affairs. She graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas with a BSE in bioengineering, magna cum laude. She attended medical school and completed her anesthesiology residency at Duke, and pursued a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at the University of North Carolina.
Dr. Malinzak is a champion for young physicians and gender equity and on a national level has successfully advocated for professional societal policy and cultural change related to parenthood and wellbeing. She is the past president of Women in Anesthesiology and past chair of the committee on young physicians for the ASA. She volunteers for the American Board of Anesthesiology; serves on the leadership advisory board for the Association of University Anesthesiologists; and is a mentor for the women’s empowerment and leadership initiative in the Society for Pediatric Anesthesiology. She was recently awarded a joint grant from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research and American Board of Anesthesiology to study gender, race, and age confidence gaps in anesthesiology board certification processes.
Keya Locke, MD, MBA, serves as the medical director of perioperative services at UF-North in Jacksonville Florida. Dr. Locke has been an assistant professor at UF Jacksonville since 2017. She completed medical school at UF Gainesville, residency at UF Jacksonville, and graduated from UF Warrington School of Business with an MBA in 2020. Her current interests include practice management and organizational behavior. She hopes to bring a better understanding of how organizations “breathe” and begin to apply strategies of successful organizations to medical ones. Dr. Locke is a member of the ASA practice management and women in anesthesia committees.
