From innovations in clinical care and technology to trends in education and practice management, anesthesiology continues to evolve. Dr. Irving Ye from ASA's Committee on Innovation joins Dr. Adam Striker to discuss where the specialty is headed and innovations that will make an impact on patients and practices. Irving Ye, MD, MBA, FASA, is a practicing anesthesiologist and healthcare executive. He serves as regional chief medical officer and vice president of clinical transformation at NorthStar Anesthesia, one of the nation’s largest anesthesia-specific provider groups, employing 4,000 clinicians at over 300 sites in 25 states. As head of clinical transformation, Dr. Irving solves complex, growth-oriented challenges by focusing on the use of technology and the implementation of enterprise-level systems improvements. He manages the clinical teams and the delivery of anesthesia services in facilities across the country, and he is dedicated to helping clinicians easily and effectively take care of patients through innovation. Dr. Irving also serves as a consultant-advisor to healthcare software companies and sits on the ASA committee on innovation and the AQI workgroup for EMR integration. Dr. Irving holds a BA in economics from Yale University, as well as MD and MBA degrees from Vanderbilt University. He completed residency at the University of Washington and a fellowship in the Management of Perioperative Services at Stanford.
Adam Striker, MD, FASA, is the past chair of the ASA’s Committee on Communications and is the series editor for ASA’s Central Line podcast series. He is Professor of Anesthesiology at Medical College of Wisconsin, a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at Children’s Wisconsin and serves as Director of Clinical Operations for pediatric anesthesiology at Children's Wisconsin. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University and his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed his pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University.
