Drs. Adam Striker and William McNiece explore the history of anesthesiology and the role of the Wood Library-Museum of Anesthesiology (WLM) in collecting, preserving, and sharing that history. William McNiece, MD, is a pediatric anesthesiologist practicing at Riley Hospital for Children Indianapolis and faculty member at Indiana University School of Medicine. He serves as president of the Wood Library-Museum of Anesthesiology (www.woodlibrarymuseum.org).
Dr. McNiece received his undergraduate degrees in mathematics and in electrical engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and his medical doctorate from Indiana University where he also completed his residency and fellowship education. He spent a decade as an employee of the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Adam Striker, MD, FASA, is currently Chair of the ASA Committee on Communications and serves as a delegate to the ASA House of Delegates from the state of Missouri. He is the series editor for ASA’s Central Line podcast series. He is a member of Anesthesia Associates of Kansas City and practices at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where he currently serves as Anesthesiologist-in-Chief. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University and his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed his pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University.
