Dr. Miriam Treggiari, Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Research in the Department of Anesthesiology at Yale University, joins Dr. Adam Striker to discuss her research and career. She shares details of her current perioperative studies, how she became interested in research, and what she’s learned about mentorship, deadlines and funding pathways. Recorded 2020.
Dr. Treggiari is currently Professor of Anesthesiology and Vice Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Anesthesiology at Yale University in New Haven, CT. She received her medical degrees from the University of Pavia (Italy) and the University of Geneva (Switzerland), and completed her anesthesiology residency and critical care medicine fellowship at the University of Geneva (Switzerland). She earned a Master’s in Public Health and a Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of Washington in Seattle. She is a member of the FAER Academy of Research Mentors in Anesthesiology.
Adam Striker, MD, FASA, is currently Chair of the ASA Committee on Communications, and is the series editor for ASA’s Central Line podcast series. He is an Associate Professor and serves as staff anesthesiologist in the Division of Cardiac Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and in the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia at Kentucky Children’s Hospital as part of the Joint Congenital Heart Care Program. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University and his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed his pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University.
