The Corporate Advisory Council was created out of a corporate supporter strategy to identify approaches to engage with industry. The CPMed Corporate Advisory Council, led by anesthesiologists, aims to foster collaboration with industry partners. The Council focuses on building relationships, promoting dialogue, identifying shared interests, and supporting programs that improve cost-effective, quality care for surgical patients.
Currently, there are 5 Corporate Advisory Council members: Baxter, Heron, Pacira, Solventum and Vertex.
Members of the Corporate Advisory Council are chosen based on their expertise and alignment with ASA’s mission and values.
The Corporate Advisory Council cannot dictate clinical practice or override legal, ethical, or organizational policies.
How does the Corporate Advisory Council interact with the leadership team?
The Center for Perioperative Medicine is comprised of 4 workgroups. The CPMed CAC is overseen by the CPMed Corporate Strategy Workgroup, one of the four workgroups of the CPMed and the CPMed. The Corporate Strategy Workgroup is the oversight body of the Corporate Advisory Council. The Corporate Strategy Workgroup’s primary function is to share information learned from the Corporate Advisory Council to the Center for Perioperative Medicine.
While the Corporate Advisory Council provides valuable insights, it is important to note that decisions on policies and procedures remain at the discretion of the relevant decision-making bodies, ensuring the independence of the ASA’s other work products including its clinical practices and guidelines.
The Corporate Advisory Council members meet virtually twice a year to share information on business intelligence, hear updates on CPMed projects, and identify potential areas of future collaboration.
The Corporate Advisory Council members provide valuable business intelligence, insights into current trends, and support for initiatives that promote quality perioperative care. Engaging multiple voices ensures that CPMed’s programs are informed by a broad range of experiences, helping to shape initiatives that meet the needs of both healthcare providers and patients. With industry partners sharing their perspectives, the CPMed CAC fosters the Center’s innovation and promotes collaborative problem-solving, paving the way for better healthcare outcomes. By focusing on building strong, collaborative relationships with industry partners and ensuring diverse input from multiple stakeholders, the CPMed Corporate Advisory Council contributes to advancing the mission of improving perioperative care for patients while maintaining a solid ethical framework.
