ASA Statement on Ukraine
The American Society of Anesthesiologists is deeply concerned by the events taking place in Ukraine and we stand in support of and in solidarity with the Ukrainian Society of Anaesthesiologists, our Ukrainian colleagues, and the entire medical community working to ease the pain and suffering of those caught in the violence of this tragic conflict. On behalf of ASA, Dr. Randall Clark has reached out to Professor Dr. Dubrov, president of the Ukrainian Society of Anaesthesiologists, to offer support.
Our Ukrainian colleagues undoubtedly need our help. It is all too clear that as this conflict escalates, access to medical care will become increasingly limited. We ask that you act now and encourage each of our members to consider supporting relief efforts.
The ASA Charitable Foundation (ASACF) will be receiving donations from members on to provide financial aid and resources for the victims in Ukraine, with a focus on medical and anesthesiology-related supplies and team support. Learn more.
The European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care recommends the International Committee of the Red Cross. Additional well-vetted suggestions for helping in Ukraine can be found at the Charity Navigator website. Additionally, the respected medical assistance organization Medicins Sans Frontieres is mobilizing to assist in Ukraine and surrounding countries.
To our Ukrainian colleagues, remain steadfast, stay strong, and know that our thoughts are with you. Please let us know how we can further support you now and in the coming days and weeks.
