CMS Releases Preliminary 2017 MIPS Performance Feedback
Participants in the 2017 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) have access to their preliminary data from the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Although a practice’s final score and feedback will not be available until July, practices may log-in to the CMS portal and review their preliminary performance scores.
Between now and June 30, 2018, your score could change based on the following:
•
Special status scoring considerations (e.g., hospital-based clinicians)
•
Final calculations of the All-Cause Readmission Measure for the Quality performance category
•
Inclusion of claims measures from 60-day run out period
•
Results of the CAHPS for MIPS Survey
•
Approval or denial of Promoting Interoperability (formerly Advancing Care Information) performance category Hardship Application
•
Improvement Activities Study participation and results
•
Creation of performance period benchmarks for Quality measures that didn’t have a historical benchmark
In July, your final score and feedback will be available through the
Quality Payment Program website. You will be able to access preliminary and final feedback with the same Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) credentials that allowed you to submit and view your data during the submission period. If you have questions about your performance feedback preliminary data, please contact the Quality Payment Program at 866/288-8292 or
[email protected].
CMS
Administrator Seema Verma recently announced that “91 percent of all clinicians eligible for the [MIPS] participated in the first year” and that the figure exceeded CMS goals. In the blogpost, Verma also noted CMS efforts “streamlining regulations, increasing efficiencies, and improving care for patients.”
