ASA and SAMBA Soliciting Comments on Draft Ambulatory Quality Measures

The American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia are seeking comments on draft quality measures currently under development. The measures were developed by a jointly-convened Technical Expert Panel for quality improvement purposes and potential use in federal payment programs.

Draft Quality Measures Available for Comment:

  • Hyperglycemia Control
  • Point-of-Care Glucose Testing
  • Ambulatory Multimodal Pain Management
  • Discharge to a Responsible Patient Escort
  • Ambulatory Post-Discharge Patient Assessment

The public comment period is an integral step in the measure development process and is an opportunity for relevant stakeholders to give their input and ensure the measures are meaningful and appropriate indicators of quality and are feasible for individuals and practices to collect.
