CMS Posts Locale -Specific Medicare Anesthesia Conversion Factors for 2020
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted the locale-specific Medicare Anesthesia Conversion Factors (CF) for services provided on/after January 1, 2020. The national Medicare Anesthesia CF for 2020 is $22.2016. The CF varies by locality according to the assigned, Geographic Practice Cost Index (GPCI). The CFs are accurate as of 10/29/2019 and reflect the expiration of the work GPCI floor of 1.00. The numbers will change if Congress acts to reinstate that floor; it is not unusual for Congress to fix the GPCIs as part of an end of the year package.
