New Data Highlights Anesthesiologists Prevailing in IDR Process, Despite Continued Delays

The federal government has released a significant amount of data on the No Surprises Act (NSA) IDR resolutions from the first and second quarter of 2023. Some key takeaways include:

 

  • Over 7 out of 10 disputes were resolved in favor of anesthesiologists, physicians and health care providers.
  • IDR awards for anesthesiology claims were higher than the qualified payment amount (QPA).
  • IDR entities rendered 2,350 payment determinations for anesthesia claims.
  • The backlog prevails with anesthesiologists and practices still awaiting eligibility and payment determinations.
