Senate Confirms Doug Collins as VA Secretary
Yesterday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Doug Collins as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs with a 77-23 vote. Former Rep. Doug Collins will succeed Denis McDonough, who has held the position since 2021 under President Joe Biden’s administration.
Doug Collins, a Georgia native, previously represented Georgia’s 9th Congressional District from 2007 to 2013. He is also a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force.
Collins has pledged to expand access to care outside of the VA and work on implementing legislation that broadens access to healthcare services for Veterans exposed to toxins like Agent Orange.
